Koren & Io’s Heartfelt Wedding at Hotel Ocho in Toronto Chinatown

Koren and Io’s Toronto Chinatown wedding was nothing short of iconic. They had already had an intimate cottage ceremony a year earlier, but wanted to be able to celebrate with all of their family and friends as soon as they could. Their venue, Hotel Ocho, was a perfect location to commemorate Koren and Io’s love while staying downtown. Koren wore her mother’s red wedding dress (made by her grandmother) with a custom-made red veil, and changed into several other outfits throughout the day to highlight her own personal style. She was also gifted her grandmother’s jade bracelet by her aunt at their tea ceremony in the afternoon. With the amount of heart and soul that went into planning this day, I knew that the images needed to reflect exactly that.

I shot this wedding on a mix of 120mm and 35mm film, as well as digital. Film stocks: Fuji Pro 400H, Portra 800, Ilford Delta 400, Ilford Delta 3200, Fuji Superia 400.

This wedding was also featured in The Anti Bride. You can read the feature here!

Listen: While We’re Young, Jhené Aiko (this was Koren and Io’s first dance song, sung live by a friend of theirs!)

Among the lovely vendor team comprised mainly of Koren and Io’s friends are:

My life's joy is using artistry and relationships to tell stories. The imagery I create is a direct result of partnerships rooted in both trust and a willingness to let go of expectations.
